From Purchase Orders to Laser Cutter: How We Started Marking Plastic Parts In-House
Last January, I sat at my desk with a bin of plastic housings and a deadline that wasn't moving. The $650 Invoice That Started It

Would I Buy It Again?
Yes, but only because the volume justified it. I'm not going to claim Boss Laser is the cheapest or the most advanced laser on the market. Their software isn't perfect, and the learning curve is real. But the documentation changed things for me. The downloads were available before the sale, the support team answered specific questions, and the material settings at least gave us a starting point.
Personally, I think documentation matters more than the spec sheet. Every machine is a compromise. But a machine backed by clear instructions is a better starting point than a machine with better numbers and no guidance.
An informed customer asks better questions and makes faster decisions. I'd rather spend ten minutes explaining the difference between an open-frame and an enclosed laser cutter than deal with a purchase that doesn't fit someone's space. That's why I wrote all this down.
If you're getting parts marked more than once a month, it's worth pricing out a laser. If you're doing it once a year, call the outside shop.
The laser isn't magic. But having one in the shop meant we stopped waiting on someone else's schedule. For us, that was worth the risk.
