We do not sell one-size-fits-all machines. Each Boss Laser system recommendation starts with your material, your throughput target, and your quality standard. Our application lab validates the parameters before we quote.
The commercial signage market demands clean edges on cast acrylic, tight tolerances on letter outlines, and the ability to process full 4x8 ft sheets without repositioning. Boss Laser LS-series CO2 platforms address all three requirements.
Our LS-3655 handles 900x1400mm sheets — sufficient for most standard sign blanks — at edge qualities that require no secondary finishing on cast acrylic up to 15mm. For thicker material or high-volume production, the dual-head option on the LS-3655 runs two identical jobs simultaneously, effectively doubling throughput on symmetrical parts.
Boss fiber laser platforms use IPG and Raycus sources from 1kW to 6kW, paired with Precitec autofocus cutting heads and Yaskawa servo drives on a stress-relieved welded steel frame. The 1500x3000mm work area handles standard sheet sizes without repositioning.
At 3kW, our fiber system cuts 8mm carbon steel at approximately 2.8 m/min with nitrogen assist, delivering oxide-free edges suitable for powder coating without grinding. At 6kW, the same machine handles 16mm carbon steel with oxygen assist at production-viable speeds. We acknowledge that for material above 20mm, higher power (10kW+) platforms from larger manufacturers may be more appropriate — and we will tell you that upfront.
Architecture firms, product designers, and engineering departments use Boss Laser CO2 systems to produce presentation-quality models and functional prototypes in hours rather than days. The LS-2440 and LS-3655 process basswood, museum board, MDF, and acrylic with the positional accuracy needed for snap-fit assemblies and scale-accurate floor plans.
A typical workflow involves exporting DXF geometry from CAD (Rhino, AutoCAD, Vectorworks), importing into RDWorks, and cutting within minutes. For complex architectural models with 50+ layers, our material parameter library provides tested speed/power settings for 30+ common model-making substrates. This eliminates the iterative test-cutting that wastes material on unfamiliar machines.
CO2 laser cutting seals fabric edges during the cut, preventing fraying on synthetic textiles without post-processing. This makes it the preferred technology for sportswear, technical textiles, and filtration media cutting. Boss Laser offers roll-feed accessory configurations on the LS-3655 for continuous material processing.
For leather, CO2 laser cutting produces clean edges on vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned hides up to 3mm without the blade wear and resharpening cycles of mechanical die cutting. Our application lab has tested over 40 leather types and maintains a parameter database that customers can access through our support portal.
Ship us a sample of your actual production material. Our application lab will cut or engrave it on the appropriate platform, document the parameters, and send you the results with a system recommendation. No obligation.
